Business of the Month: July
This month we're extremely proud to introduce Studio Scribbles. The Sun Lane based business is run by Amanda Elvidge, and presents a great activity based option for many of the town's residents.
Amanda runs the cheerful shop as a paint-your-own studio for budding artists who want to paint their own pottery, capture precious hand, foot or paw prints or those looking for unique gifts which can be commission directly via the studio.
She attributes working with the Newmarket BID to bringing new customers to her studio and enabled her to create some larger scale art projects such as a larger flower wreath which was made from a local business’s recycled egg cartons and painted by lots of children.
Amanda said: “We were involved in holding community craft workshops which were organised by BID manager, Graham Philpot and funded by Newmarket BID. The funding and materials Graham arranged enabled children and parents to get involved in activities and create their own masterpieces to take home. Parents and children worked together to created something bigger in the form of the flower wreath which Graham arranged to be displayed in the town. In turn, this brought new people to the studio who have returned on further occasion as customers.”
For Amanda, one of the keys to the success of the BID is having the team and town ambassador, Ed, in the town. She describes how having Ed around helps keep businesses up to date with what is happening, how they can get involved and who they can contact should they be concerned. She added: “It feels more like an inclusive connected business community with the BID team knowing, visiting and including everyone.”
