We're looking for individuals that deserve to be recognised for their work during the last twelve months.

Please note, all nominees must be available on Friday 17th November from 6pm for the Lights Switch On event.

Butterfly Installation Takes Over Newmarket

Love Newmarket (Newmarket BID) welcomes a brand-new summer installation for 2023 – butterflies! Bringing colour and creativity to the town, the installation is designed to draw in visitors to the centre in a bid to support our local businesses and community groups.

Following in the footsteps of last year’s umbrella installation, the new look has been launched alongside a plethora of free activities across the summer to encourage all who live and work in or close to Newmarket to get involved.

From decorating plant pots with butterflies to creating butterfly cupcakes, a butterfly display with curators from Cambridge University of Zoology to rock painting in the Memorial Gardens, there is something for everyone.

Organised and funded by Love Newmarket, the installation is designed to improve the BID district area encouraging people to visit the town throughout the summer and drive additional footfall into our local businesses.

Commenting on the installation, Love Newmarket Manager Natalie Robinson, said: “The installation was a great success last year, so we wanted to build on the idea and make more of the theme across the summer. Butterflies bring colour and plenty of creative opportunities to Newmarket, with businesses able to get involved throughout all industries.

“We have seen some great engagement from many of our local businesses already, with some planning their own butterfly themed events or merchandise, and can’t wait to see what else pops up across the summer.

“Our objective at the BID is to invite people to visit, work and live in Newmarket, and we believe an installation like this will meet and encourage these objectives. Building a community where people want to engage and spend time in the town is a big part of what the BID does, and we’re sure this installation will further this.”

The butterfly installation will be on until early September, with a launch event taking place on Monday 24th July at The Guineas Shopping Centre. Details of all events can be found on the here with additional opportunities and activities shared on their social media platforms throughout the summer.

Celebrating the Coronation

Newmarket is set to come alive for the Coronation of King Charles III and Camilla between Saturday 6 – Monday 8 May 2023, and we can’t wait. To celebrate we at Love Newmarket BID are holding a Coronation Window Competition with all businesses within the business improvement district (BID) encouraged to get involved.

After the amazing efforts seen at the Queen’s Jubilee last year, we are sure the windows are going to impress, so come to Newmarket across the weekend and enjoy the colourful displays. From union jack emblazoned storefronts, to photos of the King and Queen Consort themselves, the town will be celebrating in style.

And this is where we need your help…

Love Newmarket BID will be hosting a competition across our Facebook Page between 6 - 11 May, and within participating stores, to see who’s window our local residents and visitors would like to see crowned champion. Simply pop into the town during the weekend to see them yourself and cast your vote, or pop online for further instructions.

Many businesses are also hosting their own events and offers to celebrate the weekend, so there’s plenty to join in with whilst supporting our local independents and national businesses alike. Pop in for a royal tea or feast like a king at one of our local eateries, visit our fashion and accessories stores offering a wealth of choice for men and women alike or make yourself feel like royalty with a visit to one of our independent hair and beauty boutiques. There’s so much to do.

Bank Holiday Monday will also see celebrations taking place on The Severals, with a family-friendly day out organised by Newmarket Town Council. Funfair rides, music and more will be on offer. We’ll see you there!
